Please provide a brief overview of your current position / venue.
I am currently the Marketing Manager for Conexus, formerly Melton Logistics. I have my hands in just about every area of the company but my primary duties include: overall marketing strategy, brand awareness, research, advertising to customers and prospective employees, social media, lead generation, email marketing, web presence, internal and external communications, and managing our CRM system.
How long have you been in the transportation industry and what experiences do you have (i.e. 20 years of experience in the transportation industry including sales, marketing research and marketing communications)?
I have only been involved in the transportation industry since 2011 when I joined Conexus but I have been doing marketing, communications and graphic design in some way shape or form since 2006.
How did you become involved in the transportation marketing & communication industry?
I have my Vice President at Conexus to thank for encouraging me to join TMSA in 2011. He knew the value such an organization could provide me, especially being new to transportation, and I’m extremely thankful to him for the recommendation.
Have you received any special honors, awards and/or recognition within your field or by your employer?
I was instrumental in renaming the company from Melton Logistics to Conexus in the spring of 2012 and have created all aspects of the new brand. In 2010 I was a featured panel speaker at the Event Solutions Conference & Tradeshow, speaking to business owners about how to market their companies in a way that gets them noticed by the media.
Are you affiliated with industry and/or professional organizations/associations in addition to TMSA? Have you held any leadership positions with those organizations?
I am currently an active member of the American Marketing Association’s Tulsa chapter and a member of the Tulsa Young Professionals Next Generation Leadership Crew. I also co-lead the Oklahoma SalesForce User Group.
What has been your personal involvement with TMSA to date?
I jumped into TMSA with both feet. I joined in 2011, attended a great Connections Event in Arkansas and listened in on a wonderful webinar. I then attended my first conference in 2012 and was impressed with the professionalism and openness of everyone there. I joined the Education Committee following the conference and have benefited greatly from the connections I’ve made and the experience I’ve gained while helping plan the annual conference. I also helped plan and implement a Connections Event in December of 2012.
What is your favorite thing about TMSA?
TMSA has some amazing opportunities and I’ve been thankful and surprised at how quickly I was assimilated into the organization. I love the fact that if you want to get more involved you not only have a vast amount of opportunities to choose from, but amazing people to welcome you in and help you figure out how you can best contribute, grow and learn.
Where did you receive your higher education and what was your main field of study?
I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
What are your leisure-time talents, hobbies, community involvements or interests that you would like to share?
I am an avid runner and passionate about inspiring people to live a healthier lifestyle. I am constantly trying to find ways to make delicious foods healthier. Technology excites me and I like to spend my time improving my knowledge and my skills in all aspects of marketing. However, my favorite pastimes are traveling, gardening and spending time with my wonderful husband and 4-month old daughter.
