2019 Conference Highlights

     

Nearly 250 sales, marketing, communications, and business strategy professionals in transportation and logistics pre-registered to attend the 2019 TMSA Logistics Marketing & Sales Conference. The highlight of TMSA’s programming year, this intense 3-day event was held June 9-12, 2019, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort near Jacksonville, Florida. While more than 70% of attendees represented third-party logistics companies and over-the-road motor carriers, there were other diverse companies in attendance – ranging from rail and maritime players to technology innovators.

TMSA’s Opening and Closing Keynote, Robert Rose of The Content Advisory, discussed how transportation and logistics companies are creating customer experiences that drive awareness, generate new leads and enable sales in entirely innovative ways.

Margaret Wise of Arke, Kathy Sardelli of Truckstop.com, and Jeff Tucker of Tucker Company Worldwide discuss how the Customer Experience (CX) is being leveraged as a competitive advantage within their organizations. Panel facilitator Samuel Johnson, Vice President and Partner of Sachs Horace Janson also discussed how program development and management, internal facing and customer facing initiatives are necessary components to building a successful CX framework. 

Nearly 30 marketing and sales initiatives in commercial freight transportation were recognized as the “best in the industry” as recipients accepted their 2019 TMSA Compass Awards. A diverse roster of companies earned awards this year, including Ruan Transportation, YRC Worldwide, Canada Cartage, Trimble Transportation, SMC3, Truckstop.com, and the Women In Trucking Association. 

Two high-level marketing and sales executives in transportation and logistics share their war stories during a “fireside chat” session. Greg Recht, Vice President of Integrated Sales at Kenco Group and Justin Hall, Chief Customer Officer of YRC Worldwide then were honored during a special Recognition Program on the evening of June 10. 

Facilitated peer-to-peer networking during Interactive Roundtable Discussion Groups were one of the highlights of the conference program. Topics ranged from website strategy, SEO, content marketing, the buyer journey, and marketing automation to sales training and compensation, lead generation, sales conversion, and strategies to reduce the sales cycle. 

Approximately 40 companies were sponsors and/or exhibitors at the Expo, where providers of valuable marketing, sales and business products and services met with attendees. Companies ranged from trade media, content marketing, and marketing agencies and consultants to HR/talent management and outsourcing resources, marketing and sales technology, and industry associations.
