Executives of the Year

Each year, TMSA recognizes a senior-level leader in the marketing and the sales/business development disciplines for their leadership, professional excellence, and results produced on behalf of their company. These executives are then honored during the annual TMSA Conference & Expo.

To Nominate, the candidate should meet the following criteria:

Marketing Executive of the Year:

  • Must be a senior leader within the North American transportation industry (United States or Canada). The individual must be in a current marketing or communications capacity for an organization related to commercial transportation. Self-nominations are accepted.

  • Must have demonstrated ongoing excellence in the field of transportation or logistics marketing, and must have had overall responsibility for managing and/or executing marketing and/or organizational communications programs during the previous calendar year.

  • Provide previous relevant experience (include past titles and companies when appropriate)

  • Briefly describe professional and personal characteristics that make the nominee worthy of the award.

  • Submit an example of a best practice or strategic challenge in transportation marketing that the nominee was involved in creating and/or managing. (This ideally should demonstrate tangible business results).

Sales Executive of the Year:

  • Must be a senior leader within the North American transportation industry (United States or Canada). The individual must serve in a sales capacity for an organization related to commercial transportation. Self-nominations are accepted.

  • Must have demonstrated ongoing excellence in the field of transportation or logistics sales or business development, and have had overall responsibility for managing and/or executing sales strategies during the previous calendar year.

  • Provide previous relevant experience (include past titles and companies when appropriate)

  • Briefly describe professional and personal characteristics that make the nominee worthy of the award.

  • Submit an example of a best practice or strategic challenge in transportation sales, business development, or customer solutions that the nominee was involved in creating and/or managing. (This ideally should demonstrate tangible business results).

Who were Previous Recipients of this Recognition?

Jeff Beckham is President of Kingsgate Logistics, and was named 2018 TMSA Marketing Executive of the Year. He fully understands the value of marketing, and directed the creation of the Marketing Department in 2016 – which has bolstered and increased Kingsgate’s overall marketing strategy. Since then, Kingsgate has increased its strategic investments in advertising, public relations, and various sponsorship opportunities. Under Beckham’s guidance, in 2017 Kingsgate moved forward with a complete overhaul of the company brand and recently became Kingsgate Logistics.

SoutheyMark Southey is Executive Vice President of Business Development for TRAFFIX, and was named 2018 TMSA Sales Executive of the Year. Southey is adept at not only researching but truly understanding the technical needs of his team, and working to devise new software solutions for them. In addition, he is an advocate of a “train the trainer” mentality which takes new needs-based solutions and not only trains the team but helps to change company culture to increase success and acceptance of the system changes.
