TMSA Metrics StudyBenchmark your sales and marketing programs, initiatives and budgets against others in the transportation, logistics, and supply chain industry. Initially launched in 2014, TMSA continues to conduct this metrics study every year. The goal of this ongoing research project is to help sales and marketing practitioners gain a better understanding of key sales and marketing metrics, how the metrics change over time, and best practices for marketing and sales success in the industry.

Participate in 2019 Metrics Study

  • Reasons for Loss of Business
  • Marketing Budget by Categories
  • Allocation of Marketing Budget by Objectives
  • Digital Averages: Email Open Rates, Click Rates, PPC
  • Marketing Activity Outsourcing
  • How Metrics and ROI are Tracked

Completing the survey should require no more than 15 minutes. To be efficient, be prepared to provide the metrics as outlined above. For completing the survey, TMSA will send you a complimentary copy of Executive Summary when it is published in April 2019. The complete set of metrics and analysis will be available ONLY to survey participants and TMSA members.

During the survey, you'll be asked whether your responsible for Sales AND Marketing, or just Sales OR Marketing. Then you'll be asked to confidentially provide metrics that relate to your company's initiatives and structure - so be prepared to provide the appropriate responses to these metrics:

Corporate Demographics:

  • Industry segments your company serves
  • Total annual revenue and % of revenue from geographies (U.S., Canada, Mexico, Other)
  • Number of employees (includes headcount for Marketing, Sales, Pricing, Customer Service)

In Marketing:

  • Marketing budget size and headcount; where marketing dollars are invested; % marketing dollars by objectives
  • Social media usage, email open and click rates; ad click rates
  • Average cost per lead
  • Marketing tracking and ROI
  • Outsourcing functions

In Sales:

  • Sales budget size; results in 2017-18; factors that identify optimum sales leads
  • Sales structure; revenue % generated by roles in Sales; quotas; and cost/performance metrics
  • Sales hiring and training
  • CRM/sales automation system
  • Customer Experience (CX) strategy
